AMD Cyberpunk gamer? Here's how to get a big performance boost

The Cyberpunk 2077 gaming community continues to dig into CD Projekt Red's new release and though the game is proving to be able in its gameplay, it's a technical marvel, looking absolutely astounding at anything close to the highest settings. That is if you have the hardware to get it to run well. Fortunately, there's now a way for AMD gamers to unlock some sizeable performance improvements with a quick unofficial patch.

The problem with AMD U performance in Cyberpunk 2077 is reportedly from the game not leveraging simultaneous multi-threading, effectively leaving half the chip's logical cores on the table. This doesn't happen on Intel Us, where hyperthreading is fully ive. It seems, however, that it's simple enough to enable this added on AMD processors, and gamers have found it an effective way to boost performance.

Originally figured out by Reddit UnhingedDoork, the patch involves manually adjusting a hex string in the game's executable file. You'll need to a hex editor like HXD to do it, but when you do, replace the following string:

75 30 33 C9 B8 01 00 00 00 0F A2 8B C8 C1 F9 08

With this one:

EB 30 33 C9 B8 01 00 00 00 0F A2 8B C8 C1 F9 08

You can watch a step by step video guide here.

Early reports from s suggest that the effect can be quite dramatic, especially in older, first and second-generation Ryzen Us which have weaker single threaded performance, but lots of additional threads to utilize. One reported a jump in U usage of 50%, enabling playable framerates where previously the game was barely viable.

Even s on newer 3000-series Ryzen Us have seen sizeable, 10-20% FPS improvements.

Cyberpunk 2077 might still be seriously demanding on all your hardware, but at least now AMD s can make the most of theirs.
